Here is a great tool that intranet and digital workplace professionals can use to help reinforce a culture change process.

Intranet popups. They are a pain in the #[email protected]@ on the internet because they’re trying to get you to do something you don’t want to do and interrupt your flow.

BUT

What about if you used them on your intranet to reinforce your organisation’s culture change message ?

    I’ve never used them but I think this would drive employees insane, to be honest. Employees, by and large, view the intranet as a very practical tool to help them work more efficiently. Though well intentioned, popups requiring a click to make them go away is like driving 70 mph down a freeway only to have to stop sign pop up out of the pavement. And, yes, though you’re not trying to sell me a widget, you are trying to sell me an idea.

      I agree it may drive employees insane and I did not mean to suggest that as a tool it is used everyday for every staff member, as they are on the web.

      Where I have seen this type of thing used effectively is when it records who clicks “got it” or “ok” and then does not show that message to that user again. I’ve seen it used for getting confirmation from every staff member that they understand the new health and safety changes.

      The use of it to reinforce culture change was a variation of this that I hadn’t considered until I saw the screen shot at the top of this post.

      Let me know if there is somewhere you think this technique would work on an intranet.
